Plans and billing

What each plan includes, how the trial and per-seat billing work, what happens when you switch to Free, and who to ask about payments.

A plan belongs to a firm, or to your personal workspace, not to you. Everyone in a firm shares its plan. Settings → Billing & plan shows the plan of the firm you're in now.

What each plan includes

Free Pro
Price $0 $9 per seat a month, or $90 per seat a year
Synced repositories 5 Unlimited
Private repositories Yes Yes
Accounts backing boards 1 4
Seats (members plus pending invites) 3 5
Background sync (server fetches from the provider) Every 15 minutes Every 5 minutes, plus webhooks
Board refresh (your board fetches from GitGumbo) Every 30 seconds Every 5 seconds
Stats No Yes
Chart history kept 7 days 90 days
Read API No 1,000 requests an hour

A very large project syncs in the background at most every 30 minutes, on either plan: 200 or more open pull requests on GitHub, 1,000 or more open merge requests on GitLab. Sync and real-time explains why.

Manual Sync and the ↻ on each card work on every plan. Tax may be added at checkout, depending on your location.

Team ($16 per seat a month) adds unlimited seats (3 minimum), 10 accounts, 180 days of history, 5,000 API requests an hour and Insights. It isn't on sale yet; join the waitlist on the Pricing page.

The billing page

Anyone in the firm can see Billing & plan: the plan, its renewal or end date, what it includes, and how much of it you're using (synced repositories, accounts backing boards and seats). A bar turns amber once you've used 80% of a limit. Only owners and admins can upgrade or change the subscription.

Upgrading and the free trial

On the billing page, choose monthly or yearly, then Start 14-day trial or Upgrade to Pro. Payment happens on Stripe's checkout page.

  • The trial needs no card. If you don't add one before it ends, the firm simply goes back to Free.
  • A week before the trial ends, Stripe emails a reminder to the address used at checkout. In the last three days, owners and admins also see a banner at the top of every page with the end date and a link to Billing. Closing the banner hides it in that browser only; it never shows once the trial is set not to continue.
  • Each firm can have one trial, and so can each person. Starting checkout uses the trial up, even if you don't finish it.
  • Your new limits apply as soon as checkout completes.

You pay per seat. When someone joins or an invite is added or removed, the seat count on your subscription follows, prorated on your next invoice.

Managing your subscription

Manage subscription on the billing page opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can update your card, see invoices and cancel.

Switching to Free

Choose Switch to Free on the billing page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, and a dialog lists what changes after that:

  • Repositories over Free's 5 stop syncing. GitGumbo keeps the 5 you added first. To choose which, turn sync off for the ones you don't need on the Projects page, before the date or after it.
  • Boards sync every 15 minutes instead of every 5, and refresh every 30 seconds instead of every 5. A very large project (200 or more open pull requests on GitHub, 1,000 or more open merge requests on GitLab) already syncs every 30 minutes, and that doesn't change.
  • Real-time webhook updates stop.
  • Chart history is cut to 7 days. The older history is deleted and doesn't come back if you upgrade again.

Nothing is taken away beyond that. Boards, cards, members and linked accounts all stay, and boards for repositories that stopped syncing still open. If you're over Free's account or seat limits, you just can't add more. Changed your mind? Choose Keep Pro any time before the date.

Upgrading again

Repositories that stopped syncing because of Free's limit start syncing again automatically when you move back to Pro. Repositories someone turned off by hand stay off.

Payment problems

If a payment fails, the billing page says so and Stripe retries. The firm keeps its paid features for now; update your card in the billing portal to avoid a downgrade. If payment still hasn't gone through 14 days after the period ends, the firm moves to Free.

If a firm has more people than seats, for example after a plan change, nobody is removed and nothing stops working, but you can't invite anyone new until you remove someone or add seats.

Deleting a firm or your account

A paid subscription is cancelled straight away, and the unused part of the current period is refunded to your card.

Questions about payments

Payments for paid plans go through Stripe. Where your checkout says "Sold through Onelink", Link, a Stripe affiliate, takes the payment, issues your receipt and invoice, and handles questions about the payment itself, including refunds. For those, contact Link. For invoices and your card, use Manage subscription. The Terms explain the arrangement in full.
